Start of construction for WerkHuus1 🏗️

The special civil engineering work is in full swing for the basement preparations – and as you would expect in Münsterland soil conditions, the pumps are running for continuous dewatering. The installation of the 10m-deep soldier piles went very well on the cramped construction site.

The excavation work follows before we start with the white tank. We construct the middle section between the two office cubes, which are shifted one below the other, from the ground floor to the third floor using reinforced concrete. There is still a lot of preparatory work to be done before we get started with our favorite material, wood.

The basement accommodates all of the building’s technical equipment. For the heat management of all rooms, we are integrating our existing wood-burning system, which serves WerkHuus1 via a district heating connection. More than 20 years ago, we chose a system that is fed with wood chips – so our waste wood is put to optimum use♻️! With an additionally installed absorption system, we can now create slightly cooled rooms in the warm months ☀️. It is distributed via underfloor convectors that are installed in the raised floor system. The central ventilation system with heat recovery, solar control glazing and textile screens also ensure a pleasant indoor climate.

Until the basement is flooded for the building’s ballast, we will continue to keep you up to date on our timber construction production in our factory – at the same time, the Terhalle team in the construction department 🖥️ is finalizing the planning this week before starting to procure materials.
